    Description

    Gather Catering is a made from scratch boutique catering company that offers a high level of food and service to our clients. We are looking to expand our service team. We cater to a variety of events both in clients homes and in event venues throughout the city. The events we cater include but are not limited to corporate breakfasts, lunches, cocktail and dinner parties, weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, social gatherings, celebrations of life. At Gather, our attentive team takes pride in our ability to anticipate the needs of our clients, with a focus on hospitality and personable service.

    POSTION SUMMARY

    Gather Catering is looking for an experienced Sous Chef to fill out their team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate is responsible for both catering prep and event execution – this includes both in-house food preparation, as well as off-site events. If you are interested in working with a small team that focuses on seasonality and quality ingredients, then this is the job for you.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Prepare food items to the highest standard, as directed by the Head or Executive Chef

    · Collaborate with the Head and Executive Chef on menu development, staff mentorship, and managing controllable expenses

    · Oversee day to day kitchen and event operations; including purchasing, inventory management, quality assurance, and fluid event execution

    · Recognize and utilize superior quality products, flavours, and presentations

    · Provide excellent verbal and written communication to all team members, vendors, and clients

    · Utilize exceptional critical thinking skills, a keen attention to detail and the ability to respond quickly in dynamic and changing environments

    · Ensure the highest level of food safety practices and cleanliness is adhered to at all times

    · Possess excellent personal hygiene standards

    · Respond in a positive and timely manner to all client requests and concerns, while striving to meet company standards of exceeding client's expectations

    · Consistently conduct yourself in a professional and positive manner

    · Demonstrate enthusiasm, adaptability and an insistent eagerness to learn

    · Protect and enhance the Gather Catering brand

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIRED SKILLS

    · At least 2 years' culinary experience, with preference given to candidates with previous catering and sous chef experience

    · Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs

    · Strong time management and organizational skills

    · Availability to work seasonal and flexible hours – days, evenings, weekends, holidays

    · Possess a valid driver's license

    Job Type: Full-time

    Schedule:

    • 10 hour shift
    • 8 hour shift
    • Day shift
    • Evening shift
    • Monday to Friday
    • Weekends as needed

    Supplemental pay types:

    • Overtime pay
    • Tips

    Ability to commute/relocate:

    • Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

    Experience:

    • Cooking: 5 years (preferred)
    • Event: 2 years (preferred)

    Work Location: In person
