    Purpose of Role:

    Weir Motion Metrics is a Canadian mining technology division that enables a new generation of safe, smart, and sustainable mining. Based in Vancouver, B.C., the company joined forces with Weir, one of the world's leading engineering businesses, to empower mines by developing and deploying advanced monitoring solutions that address the industry's toughest challenges. We are looking for a Systems Design Engineer to join our Core Product Team.

    As the Systems Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in identifying design requirements and implementation. Also, you will have an effective role in the high-level design and implementation of rugged camera and sensor-based monitoring solutions involving 2D/3D Imaging, IIoT and GNSS, Embedded CPU/GPU Computing, as well as building a high-performance infrastructure to run Computer Vision and AI algorithms. You will have the chance to contribute to the design, architecture, implementation, and optimization of new and existing products alongside a passionate group of professionals dedicated to solving tough challenges in mining.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the test plan, build test fixtures, and analyze the test result.
  • Contribute to a variety of projects: sensor integration, data collection and analysis, automation, prototyping, and scale-up
  • Produce required technical reports, drawings, schematics, instructions, and documentation
  • Assist in maintaining hardware component life cycle, firmware, testing, manufacturing, QC, and troubleshooting as necessary.

    • Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
  • Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in related fields
  • Participated in all phases of new product development from concept to high volume production release in: Requirement finalization Schematics design and PCB routing BOM preparation and management Rapid Prototyping Hardware bring-up and design verification test Prepare production documents
  • Experience with lab test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Datalogger, Multimeters, etc.
  • Skilled in electronic tools such as PCB TH/SMD hand soldering, connector crimping, wire harness assembly prototyping

    Compensation: 69, ,188 CAD

Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location.
