Why is this role important?

  • The Program Lead, ODT Standards and Data Repository works closely with the manager to successfully lead the development of a new panCanadian data repository for ODT. This role is responsible for the overall development and operational management of the data repository, and associated information products and services. In development phase, the role will work closely with internal stakeholders such as Information Technology and Services (ITS) and external partners such as Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) and data providers to successfully capture and integrate high quality and timely ODT data from providers into the data repository. The Program Lead will supervise an interdisciplinary team to meet key project deliverables.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Oversees the successful development of the new panCanadian data repository, and provides operational oversight of the repository and associated products and services by managing an interdisciplinary ODT program area team, along with other ODT leads.
  • 2. Provides leadership and guidance to the ODT program area staff. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload and performance of staff. Conducts annual performance management reviews.
  • 3. Working closely with the Project Manager, ITS and Infoway, oversees and supports the design, build and implementation of the new ODT data repository, including requirements gathering, design options assessment, testing, data submission standards development, and integration/ingestion of data from providers into the repository, and will oversee all corresponding maintenance and change management related to the repository architecture from the business side.
  • 4. Working with Infoway and external data providers/vendors on integration projects (includes CIHI input towards request for proposal activities, review and evaluation of submitted proposals, as well as overseeing data element gap analyses, and participating in CIHI technical discussions with external stakeholders); once production database is ready, working with data providers and vendors to support testing and provision of support for data submission processes, coordinating all related CIHI activities related to submissions.
  • 5. Supports the development and implementation for the ODT data content standards, and oversees corresponding maintenance and change management of these data content standards. Works with Infoway and CIHI's Data Governance team to leverage and expand existing data content standards.
  • 6. Supports the development and implementation of work plans and strategies to ensure smooth operation of the ODT repository. Leads and organizes all activities related to production schedule, data quality, education, client support, testing and documentation. Ensures that data within the repository is of high quality, including ongoing monitoring of data quality and producing documentation as required by CIHI's information quality framework. This includes working closely with internal stakeholders (e.g. ITS, Client Access and Engagement, etc.).
  • 7. Oversees products and services as it relates to the ODT repository. This includes development and maintenance of recordlevel data access mechanism/tool for external stakeholders; coordination of client support activities related to submission and use of ODT data, such as adhoc data requests and client queries; all supporting documentation (e.g. data standards, submission specifications; data quality documentation, education modules), and other related reports as needed.
