    • Why is this role important?

    In this role you will support the Health Human Resources, Data Management and Operations Team with operational activities pertaining to physician data to enable CIHI to attain its goal of delivering comparable and actionable information. As a co-op student you will be involved in a variety of activities that support priority projects for our department, that help drive CIHI's overall mandate to deliver on better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. This unique opportunity will expose you to areas of health workforce information stewardship and management. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to apply your programming skills to process data, evaluate data quality, and analyze data.

    What you'll do

    -Migrate programs that verify and validate raw physician data from SAS/pseudocode to Python, while ensuring that your code is well documented and can efficiently be handed-off for future use
    -You may also be requested to help with the following activities across the Health Human Resources Branch:
    oData verification and data quality initiatives
    oOperations and administrative support

    What you'll bring to the table

    -Working towards an undergraduate or a graduate program pertaining to one or more of the following areas: data analysis, data science, programming, health informatics, public health that require Co-op as part of the educational requirement
    -Experience working with Python and/or SAS, SQL
    -Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
    -Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders through writing and verbally
    -Self-motivated, high attention to detail, good problem solving skills
    -Initiative driven and go-getter attitude
    -Good to have additional assets: experience with and understanding of basic statistics and management information systems
