    McElhanney has an opportunity for a Survey Crew Lead to join our team that is willing to work out of Edmonton, AB (or area) on shift work.

    We currently have long-term clients that offer a 14-7, 14-14, or similar shifts at Oilsands sites that are north of Edmonton.

    Travel to these sites is primarily drive-in-drive-out, allowing us flexibility in our travel arrangements.

    McElhanney has industry leading capabilities in Surveying, Scanning, RPAS/drone operations, Bathymetry, LiDAR and remote sensing, line locating and GIS, offering the opportunity to expand knowledge and contribute to improving and implementing processes.

    Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and pre-site access testing are required as per client requirements. 50 - $38 per hour.

    Field completion of surveys in support of projects including topographic surveys, layout of alignments and grades; high order control networks, deformation monitoring, quantity measurements, drone/RPAS flights, and legal surveys.

    Work with the latest generation of total stations as well as terrestrial scanners and RPAS/drone units.

    We strive to provide clients with the highest levels of service and commit to support field staff with the resources required.

    Work with Project Manager to understand project objectives, budgets, goals, and schedules.

    Expand upon, or develop, processing and calculating skills while in the field to gain a broader knowledge of survey operations.

    McElhanney operates a fleet of over 50 RPAS/drones with a program to continually develop staff and processes. We provide the necessary training to qualify for Advanced Certification.
    Where appropriate work semi autonomously to manage surveying tasks, fully supported by a project team.
    Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.

    Two-year technical diploma in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or relatable subject with at least 2 years of previous experience in a similar role.

    A higher level of experience in surveying, construction or engineering will be considered if no diploma is held.
    Competence in the fundamentals and use of Total stations is an asset.
    Physical ability to work on varied terrain, potentially over long days, and the ability to lift heavy equipment.
    Experience with Civil 3D, MicroSurvey and Trimble Business Centre is an asset.
    Desire to work on remote projects.
    Valid class 5 driver's license required.
