    Description

    Overview: The Team Lead will spearhead the complete implementation of the RED Path project under the supervision of the Director of Health. This project focuses on increasing awareness of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C (HCV), promoting healthy relationships and sexuality, and facilitating access to resources for Indigenous Women, Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Queer, Asexual, Intersex, and other diverse gender identities and sexual orientations (IW2SLGTQAI+) currently incarcerated.

    Responsibilities :


    • Lead the RED Path project, ensuring all associated duties are carried out efficiently and effectively.


    • Coordinate and deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based, culturally competent workshops for staff and residents at federal women's institutions across Turtle Island and Inuit Nunangat.


    • Provide support and guidance to ensure the well-being of IW2SLGTQAI+ in federal facilities and Section 81 Healing Houses/Lodges.


    • Write reports, factsheets, briefing notes, training reports, infographics, sponsor reports, PowerPoints, and other policy-type documents;


    • Engage in background research, prepare resource scans and literature reviews.


    • Apply a culturally relevant gender-based analysis to all activities.


    • Other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience


    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, social work, Indigenous studies) or equivalent experience. Master's Degree is considered an asset.


    • 2-5 years of experience in program coordination and/or research within a non-profit community organization.


    • Experience in project management, particularly in community-based initiatives or healthcare settings.


    • Excellent understanding of issues related to STBBIs, HIV, HCV, healthy relationships, and Indigenous health.


    • Ability to develop and deliver culturally sensitive educational workshops/resources.

    Knowledge


    • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and Indigenous cultural competency.


    • Participatory and community-based research approaches;


    • Indigenous knowledge systems and Indigenous research methodologies, and strengths-based approaches in research;


    • Individual, institutional, and systemic issues affecting IW2SLGTQAI+ and communities in Turtle Island and Inuit Nunangat;


    • Proficiency in conducting research and analysis in collaboration with Indigenous peoples, demonstrating respect and cultural sensitivity, and effectively presenting findings in diverse report formats.


    • Capability to formulate recommendations aimed at assisting senior management in their decision-making processes, particularly regarding policy directions, drawing on comprehensive understanding and analysis of relevant data and contexts.

    Skills


    • Superb writing and verbal communication skills in both English and French an asset;


    • Excellent research and analytical skills;


    • Ability to carry out culturally-appropriate gender-based analysis (training will be provided);


    • Excellent interpersonal skills;


    • Ability to apply sound judgment and make decisions within the area, often on short notice;


    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize work effectively and under pressure;


    • Ability to conduct research in cooperation and consultation with diverse stakeholders;


    • Strong ability to build positive working relationships and rapport with team, community, and stakeholders;


    • Strong ability to navigate or learn various software's including survey software, data-storage software, project management software, Outlook and Teams, etc.;


    • Ability to carry out research, analyzes data, and advance effective advocacy and communication strategies under the supervision of the Director of Health.

    Working Conditions

    • Remote work except for project's essential travel (ample notice will be provided)


    • Travel within Canada required (approximately 7 weeks per year)


    • Overtime may be required at times; (these hours must be pre-approved by the Director of Health)


    • Employees are expected to multi-task with possible interruptions from colleagues, management or other people.

    Salary range: 80,000-85,000K per annum commensurate with qualifications and experience.
