Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Financial Officer provides financial support to the department of Material Science Engineering by drafting financial reports, updating data into FIS, HRIS and supporting departmental payroll process. Your responsibilities will include:
Essential Qualifications:
Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Knowledge of accounting principles will be considered an asset. Minimum two years of relevant experience including accounts receivable, payroll, FIS and HRIS or similar systems. Experience applying and interpreting financial policies is required. Experience handling confidential data and pulling reports from it. Experience with processing accounts payable (e.g. invoices, expense reimbursements, purchase orders) and accounts receivable (e.g. deposits), specifically reviewing supporting documents for compliance, data inputting, and generating standard system reports. Experience with data entry. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment. Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a team. Exceptional communication and customer service skills. Ability to multitask with strong organizational and time management skills to address a variety of tasks, while meeting deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail and database management skills. Demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities. Strong computer skills: SAP (FIS and HRIS) or equivalent financial and human resources information systems; MS Word and Excel. Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, good judgement, initiative, tact and discretion.
Assets (Nonessential):
Related experience in a university environment including experience applying and interpreting financial policies. Accounting training is an asset.
