Short Description of the Position:


Under the supervision and guidance of the Assistant Director of School Age Programming (ADSP), the Coordinator of School Age Programming (CSP) will be an energetic, creative, and passionate leader serving a key role in the overall supervision of JCamp, Afterschool programs, Break camps and Schools Out programming.

This will include, among other duties, management of schedules, and assisting in the development of meaningful programs for children enrolled in our programs.

The CSP will assist in overall operations of this area of the Early Childhood Department.

In partnership with the Assistant Director, the Coordinator will manage day-to-day functions and programs of camp and school age programming and to provide leadership and support for staff.


Schedule:


  • 37.5 hours per week, Full Time, Year-Round.
  • Available to work a variety of shifts between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Occasional evenings will be required to attend staff meetings and other professional development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensuring that all Camps and the Afterschool program are being run in a manner that is acceptable to the MNjcc's policies and Guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all programs developed, and implemented are age appropriate, safe, stimulating for the children and that they follow all Ministry of Education and City of Toronto guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the ADSP, ensure that all programs are staffed according to the Ministry of Education guidelines (for all licensed programs) and according to MNjcc guidelines (for nonlicensed programs)
  • Assist in the development of all programming for all School Age programs including JCamp, Break Camps, School's Out and Afterschool programs
  • With the ADCAP, recruit and assist in the hiring of staff for the School Age Programming department
  • Supervise daily operations of Afterschool, School's Out and Break camps with the DCAP, including administration, camper care, and staff supervision
  • Research and book field trips for Break Camps and JCamp
  • In collaboration with the ADSP, communicate with parents/guardians about any issues and concerns of children in our programs
  • Building relationships with families at the MNjcc and the children in our programs
  • Being a part of the staff ratio and assisting in rooms when required
  • Support swim with possibility of being in pool
  • With the ADSP ensuring that Fire Drills and Evacuation Drills from the Roof Top, afterschool and camp rooms are done at least monthly and recorded as required
  • Working in collaboration with the rest of the ECE Senior team creating a cohesive working group.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • College diploma or University degree in CYW, ECE or other related studies an asset
  • Experience leading a day camp and children's programming
  • Ability to assist in the development of and maintain a budget
  • Valid Standard First Aid CPR-C
  • Must have current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Up to date immunization record (tetanus, TB screening)
  • A knowledge of Jewish life, customs and traditions is an asset

Salary and Benefits:

- $43,000 to $49,000 annually
