    Description

    Introduction

    The IT Support Unit in the department of Advanced Education and Training provides IT support and management to capital projects and IT applications, many of which are major and mission critical.

    • Qualifications: Essential:
  • Post-secondary education in the fields of Computer Science, Information Systems or Business Analysis, or an equivalent combination of formal education, training and experience.
  • Experience in Lean, change management and continuous improvement methodologies and their applications.
  • Extensive experience conducting client needs analysis, developing business cases, and facilitating and documenting business requirements, following industry best practices, case design and innovation by design methodologies.
  • Experience leading large, complex projects, including developing project charters, project plans, identification and assignment of tasks, timeline estimating, execution, risk management and project reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders by building rapport and resolving conflict as required
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to lead highly complex technology initiatives and engagements, involving multiple processes, services, partners and stakeholders
  • Strong verbal communication skills for the purpose of consulting and providing advice to senior management, external stakeholders, business teams and service providers across functional areas and across organizations
  • Superior written communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise documents for a variety of audiences and senior management
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills including the ability to think strategically
  • Strong organizational skills demonstrating adaptability to unforeseen changes in schedule and interruptions, with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines within tight timelines
  • Experience working with System Development Life Cycle
    • Desired:
  • Knowliedge of Web technology and tools, web development and design
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Project Management software tools and other productivity tools
    • Duties: The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the oversight of technology initiatives and engagements that create and maintain high quality information technology services for the IT Support Unit under Advanced Education and Training. The Senior Business Analyst will manage, guide, and advise teams, in conjunction with internal department clients, external stakeholders and subject matter experts, to support targeted technology investment through technology initiatives and projects. This will include project initiation, development of business requirements and business cases, project planning and analysis, business process analysis, organization change management, process improvement, project management oversight, project evaluation and vendor procurement. The Senior Business Analyst provides leadership, guidance, advice, support and information on matters relating to policy, strategic planning, innovation, and deployment of technology within the department, as well as analysis and advice on major provincial department initiatives. This position plays a significant and critical role in defining, implementing, achieving, maintaining, and improving Information Technology Services and Department business plans and objectives.
