Major Capital Repair and New Construction Project Manager - Hamilton, Canada - Good Shepherd Centres
Description
Who We Are
The work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members.
We are looking for a Major Capital Repair and New Construction Project Manager to join our dynamic leadership team where you'll be the driving force behind our diverse construction projects. We're looking for a proactive and experienced individual who can lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
How You Will Make an Impact
As the Project Manager on our team, you will play a crucial role in the successful management and implementation of our construction projects, encompassing a wide array of responsibilities. Your role as Project Manager is integral to success, blending technical expertise, leadership, communication skills, and strategic thinking. We anticipate your valuable contributions will significantly drive our construction projects towards excellence.
One of your key responsibilities will be leading the project planning phase, which includes defining the scope, setting objectives, and outlining deliverables. You will be tasked with creating detailed work plans, comprising schedules, cost estimates, and resource allocation, thus laying the groundwork for successful project implementation. You will be responsible for and/or participate in the evaluation and selection of key personnel, such as General Contractors, Architects, Trades, and Engineers; ensuring the right team is in place for each project.
Your responsibilities will extend to collaborating closely with the Procurement Department, adhering to provincial, agency and contract procurement rules and directives as well as ensure the smooth and cost-effective acquisition of necessary resources and services.
Contract management is also a pivotal aspect of your role, where you will negotiate with and monitor various stakeholders to secure good outcomes that directly impact the project's financial health and quality.
Financial oversight is a key responsibility, where you will manage budgets and monitor expenditures to keep projects within financial limits. Ensuring high-quality standards in construction work is crucial for client satisfaction - your role involves effective communication and reporting, regularly updating stakeholders on project progress and incorporating senior management feedback. Issue resolution and maintaining thorough documentation throughout the project lifecycle are also essential for transparency and effective project management.
Upon project completion, you will conduct a comprehensive post-construction review, analyzing successes and areas for improvement, which will be invaluable for future projects.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
