About the Role


What You'll Do- Oversee data management business processes as they pertain to the actuarial valuation extract (AVE) and pension administration processes.- Manage the internal funding, solvency, windup and accounting valuations for the OPSEU Pension Plan.- Liaise with Investment Risk and Investment Division to help develop asset models and scenario analysis.- Oversee stochastic and deterministic actuarial forecasts including joint research projects with Investment Division- Review costing analysis and set appropriate assumptions with respect to various issues relating to the pension plan; this includes costing for valuation assumption changes or preliminary ad hoc costing for upcoming OPS contract negotiations.- Manage the final review and calculation of commuted values and pension entitlements and the development of independent calculators or spreadsheets.- Work with OPTrust's Project Management Office to develop rules documents which lead to business requirements and system specifications.- Provide follow-up data analysis, review, and support for OPTrust's external actuaries.- Review and formulate recommendations for system and procedural changes as they pertain to the actuarial valuation and annual information processes.- Represent Actuarial Services and Plan Policy in OPTrust special project work related to the design, testing and implementation of new systems.- Oversee the development of new tools to calculate complex pension administration cases.


What You Bring- An FCIA designation (Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) is required or at least 10 years of experience working in an actuarial capacity.- Experience in pension management/administration field and knowledge of legislation, including the Pension Benefits Act and the Income Tax Act- Knowledge of actuarial forecasting both deterministically and stochastically- Experience in working on a large public sector pension plan is an asset.- Ability to conceptualize and think creatively is essential- Strong analytical and organizational skills with demonstrated project planning experience.- Excellent communication and report writing skills.- Positive attitude towards work and colleagues to support team goals and organizational values of strong teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect.
