Description

As a Summer Camp Coordinator, you'll be responsible for the administration, program delivery and supervision of Town of Milton camp programs at one or multiple facilities, ensuring all activities are safe, fun and appropriate.

This position reports to the Camp Director.


What will you be responsible for?

  • Creating fun and exciting daily activity plans with Camp Supervisors that uphold the principles of HIGH FIVE and approving weekly program plans
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of camp policies and procedures and supporting Camp Supervisors in enforcing the established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of participants
  • Providing support to the Coordinators, Recreation and Camp Director, with facilitation of camp training and administrative support, as required
  • Ensuring all staff have current qualifications on file
  • Ordering first aid materials and camp supplies, tracking spending to keep within allotted budget
  • Developing a camp resource to be used in planning of daily camp activities
  • Providing strong leadership to Camp Supervisors and Summer Camp Program Leaders
  • Ongoing communication with parents/guardians, including timely follow up to all questions/concerns
  • Supervising Camp Supervisors and ensuring all performance expectations are met, and performance evaluations completed
  • Completing QUEST 2 Evaluations for required camp sites
  • Reviewing registration numbers weekly, and scheduling staff accordingly to ensure appropriate supervision ratios, including the scheduling of extended care and breaks
  • Collecting and approving staff timesheets weekly, inputting biweekly payroll
  • Carrying out HIGH FIVE staff recognition program and staff appreciation activities and events
  • Visiting camp sites daily to ensure quality program delivery
  • Reviewing and approving midterm and summersend evaluations of Summer Camp Program Leaders
  • Adhering to all established departmental safety standards and practices

What will we need from you?

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, to a maximum of 44 hours. Hours vary based on program registrations. This position typically works a full camp day, Monday
  • Friday
  • Attendance at mandatory trainings that occur during evenings and weekends throughout May and June
  • Attendance at biweekly staff meetings that occur outside of camp hours

What skills and experience you will bring to the team?

  • Completion, or working toward the completion, of a postsecondary degree/diploma program in Education, Recreation & Leisure or a related field
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working in a camp environment with demonstrated experience in supervision and program planning
  • Experience working with persons with exceptionalities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C required
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) required
  • Quest 2 certification required
  • Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) or equivalent required

Hourly Rate:
$ $22.03
