- Provide to the Board financial reports, special reports and other information on a timely basis to enable the Board to discuss potential issues, make decisions and fulfill its mandate.
- Provide recommendations to the Board for the security and protection of resources and on any matter respecting financial or risk management matters.
- Recommend investment guidelines and review investment performance.
- Regularly review financial, risk management and other relevant policies and, when necessary, recommend changes.
- Ensure effective internal controls to support protection of financial resources and accuracy of financial information.

Regina Transition House serves the needs of women and children through the provision of safe transitional shelter and support services to promote community well-being.
Regina Transition House Board of Directors is looking for volunteers to join our Board, specifically in the Secretary/Treasurer position. The Secretary/Treasurer serves as a member of the Executive Committee and as the Chair of the Finance Committee. The successful candidate will work with our current Secretary/Treasurer for a year, then will fully assume the role at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
About the Finance Committee
The Finance Committee meets quarterly at a minimum. Meetings are typically held electronically. Meetings are attended by the Finance Officer and Executive Director. The Finance Officer and Executive Director are responsible for the day to day accounting and reporting.

The Secretary/Treasurer is one of three Board signing authorities for the organization. The Executive Director is also a signing authority. The Secretary/Treasurer typically meets with the Finance Officer by-weekly to review and sign cheques.
About the Executive Committee
The Executive Committee consists of the Chair of the Board, the Vice Chair of the Board and the Secretary Treasurer. The Executive Committee provides advice and support to the Executive Director as needed and meets only on an adhoc basis.
About the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors meets 10 times a year (no meetings in July and August). The meetings are typically on the third Tuesday of each month, held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The meetings are usually held electronically with the option to attend in person.
