    Description

    Regina Transition House serves the needs of women and children through the provision of safe transitional shelter and support services to promote community well-being.

    The Secretary/Treasurer serves as a member of the Executive Committee and as the Chair of the Finance Committee. About the Finance Committee
    The Finance Committee meets quarterly at a minimum. Meetings are attended by the Finance Officer and Executive Director. The Finance Officer and Executive Director are responsible for the day to day accounting and reporting.
    The key functions of the Finance Committee are:
    # Provide recommendations to the Board for the security and protection of resources and on any matter respecting financial or risk management matters.
    # Recommend investment guidelines and review investment performance.
    # Regularly review financial, risk management and other relevant policies and, when necessary, recommend changes.
    # Ensure effective internal controls to support protection of financial resources and accuracy of financial information.

    The Executive Director is also a signing authority. The Secretary/Treasurer typically meets with the Finance Officer by-weekly to review and sign cheques.
    About the Executive Committee

    The Executive Committee consists of the Chair of the Board, the Vice Chair of the Board and the Secretary Treasurer.

    The Executive Committee provides advice and support to the Executive Director as needed and meets only on an adhoc basis.
