    Description

    Be part of our Information & Technology (I&T) team, a critical piece of the engine that keeps us in motion.

    From enterprise architecture to operational technology, our teams use the agile methodology to automate and digitize our railroad ensuring our operations run optimally and safely and our employees can focus on value-added tasks.

    Using Infrastructure as codes, DevSecOps and the modern CN Digital platforms.

    The Specialist Solution Design is responsible for producing technology solutions aligned with business objectives within a specific field of expertise of the CN digital platforms.

    Consultation – participating to workshops with various stakeholders, understanding user & business requirements, researching data, and technological capabilities;

    • Ownership – translating information from consultation sessions into a Technology Blueprint or software design;
    • For infrastructure and technology expertise, planning – in project involving integration with CN digital platforms, work with the Project Manager in creating work breakdown structures, delivery timeline and effort estimates.
    Technology Blueprint / Software Design – 60%

    If needed, define new capabilities required by the project as identified by architecture; ensure maximum automation in the design for deployment.

    Project Delivery Planning - 30%
    Define testing strategy and align with the functional team in with domain(s) of expertise.
    Research ways to improve and automate deployment of existing and new capabilities.

    • otherwise trigger introduction of new technology as well as containment or retirement.
    Owner of the sections related to domain(s) of expertise in the Blueprint for medium complexity projects.

    • Provide artifacts to increase transparency to project teams and stakeholders; create deliverables through constant collaboration cycles, ensuring all involved will be in agreement with proposals to keep the project on-track and assist other teams with production planning.
    • Influence vendors within domain(s) of expertise to release solutions better aligned with CN's needs, with increased security and automation.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree & experience.
    Familiar with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.

    • Broad knowledge of software development, telecom, infrastructure, or Industrial IoT technologies.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and meet deliverable dates.
    • Very good technical documentation skills.
    • Proactive, able to plan, address or mitigate technical risk.
    • Proven experience delivering technology projects involving multiple parties.
    • Minimum 7 years experience in application designing, developing, coding and supporting on Customer Facing Platforms (Mobility, API management and Microservice)
    • 5 year of hands-on development experience with Java script, Angular and Native Scripts.
    • DevOps experience with CI/CD technology such as Azure DevOps, Git, ...
    • FinOps and Cloud cost control experience
    • Experience deployment of Google services such as Firebase (Hosting & Cloud Functions), VPC, Cloud Armor, Cloud logging and monitoring
    • GCP certification is an asset
    • Understanding of Infrastructure as code technology such as Terraform, Ansible, ... is an asset.
    Occasional business travel (in Canada and US) in accordance with CN policy.
