About Us
Ruth and Naomi's Mission has been in Chilliwack for over 20 years.

From handing out sandwiches to the homeless in downtown Chilliwack, we have grown to encompass three locations in Chilliwack - and from 4 employees to almost 100 We are operating 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Ruth and Naomi's is a faith based Mission and as such is the foundation upon which the operation is based.

As we grow, we need more caring passionate people to join us in the following position:

Cook:

The Cook position is responsible for producing nutritional and tasty meals for residents and clients of Ruth and Naomi's Mission at our Pathways/Revive Shelter.

This position reports to the Head Chef or the Shelter Manager for food related responsibilities. There is a lateral relationship with other Cook Support personnel.

The work environment is a busy, noisy area with access to a secured common area as well as to the street to allow for deliveries and drop offs.

Core Duties Include:

Prepares assigned food items by following established menus, recipes, and quantity quotas, determining ingredients and quantities required and assembling ingredients and equipment required for cooking.
Develop and plan healthy and desirable meals for each day
Cooks and seasons assigned food such as soups, sauces, salads, starches, meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and desserts by methods/procedures such as roasting, frying, grilling steaming, poaching boiling, baking.
Maintains established food rotations in storage, to minimize spoilage and waste.
Assigns tasks appropriately to volunteers and assigned employees.
Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen to ensure that all related standards are met or exceeded
Coordinate food purchases with the Head Cook.

Education / Work Experience / Skills:

Red Seal Certificate, or designation in process, desired
Current FoodSafe designation
Current First Aid, Level One certification
3 years of Station Chef or equivalent experience preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Strong culinary skills
Strong organizational skills

Current Vaccinations

Criminal Check required (post hire)

Job Type:
Part-time

Part-time hours: 16-40 per week

Salary:
From $23.00 per hour
