    The Office of the Registrar at SAIT is an essential part of the student journey, the front line of student support from admissions to convocation. We are committed to informing and assisting our current and future students from initial inquiry through to graduation and employment.
    The Opportunity
    Reporting to the Manager, Systems and Reporting in the Office of the Registrar (OTR), the Business Analyst will play a crucial role in leveraging technology to support and enhance the student information system (SIS) at SAIT. You will be responsible for analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and configuring Banner(ERP) Student modules to meet the specific needs of the institution. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient operation of student-related functions, ensuring accurate data management and reporting.
    This position works collaboratively with other Business Analysts and stakeholders in OTR to investigate opportunities for business performance improvements. Key responsibilities include requirement gathering, reviewing business processes, investigation of technology solutions, designing and implementing optimal solutions and change management. The primary focus of the position is to enhance student experience and OTR operations by optimizing resources in support of business transformation through department driven or institutional initiatives. Data literacy and analysis skills are required, and the incumbent will support ongoing efforts to develop a data-driven culture within and beyond the OTR through data synthesis and reporting.
    This position holds a strong focus towards reporting utilized by members of the OTR and beyond, including evaluation of current state, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and executing initiatives to continuously improve the status of reporting. In addition, the incumbent will be asked to evaluate current state and resources, alternative technologies, and develop and drive solutions as they pertain to form-based processes including multi-level approvals.

    The Role

    • Requirements Gathering, Process Digitization and Reporting - 40%
    • Collaborate with stakeholders including academic departments, administrative offices, and IT teams to understand business needs and requirements related to student information management.
    • Conduct discovery meetings, workshops, and surveys to gather comprehensive requirements for Banner Student system enhancements and implementations.
    • Document business requirements, process flows, use cases, and functional specifications for proposed solutions.
    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for Banner Student configuration and customization.
    • Document existing state, design enhancements, and develop digitized process workflows (including multi-level approvals, etc.) to support business operations
    • Engage stakeholders to identify challenges and positives with the current state
    • Design improved digitized processes that support business operations
    • Develop and implement new digitized process assets, including change management with relevant stakeholders
    • Evaluate and enhance operational reports and dashboard (eVisions/Argos) that support business processes and decision making:
    • In collaboration with department leaders and staff, develop map of current state of OTR reporting (Argos)
    • Evaluate current data structures and identify opportunities to enhance reporting, including stakeholder engagement
    • Design and develop reports and dashboards in Argos/FormFusion

    • End User Support - 30%
    • Support change within the OTR for business process and system changes in alignment with change management direction
    • Provide training and support to end-users on the use of Banner Student functionality and processes.
    • Develop training materials, user guides, and documentation to facilitate the adoption of new features and enhancements.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Banner Student system-related inquiries and troubleshooting.

    • Continuous Improvement - 30%
    • Configure Banner Student modules and components according to business requirements, including admissions, student records, registration, course management, grading, and financial aid.
    • Collaborate with developers and technical teams to implement integrations, and enhancements to the Banner Student system.
    • Conduct testing and quality assurance to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of configured solutions.
    • Stay informed about industry best practices, trends, and updates related to student information systems and higher education technology.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, system enhancements, and innovative solutions to support the evolving needs of the institution.
    • Participate in system upgrades, patches, and releases, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
    • Understand the student and related data required of interfaces to ensure system and data integrity
    • Provide input into the technology plan for OTR

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Minimum Post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Systems, Technology, or Business Process design
    • Minimum 5 or more years direct experience with enterprise resource planning systems, student information system maintenance and support for post-secondary educational institutions
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into technical solutions.
    • Data extraction, manipulation and reporting experience with SQL and reporting or data analytics applications such as Argos, Tableau or PowerBI.
    • Strong relationship building and relationship management skills
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and support.
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently or as part of a team.

    • Preferred:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
    • Demonstrated familiarity with project management and change management principles
