Duties:
The Faculty of Education has the following openings for sessional instructors in the Intersession 2024 term of the recently launched Literacy, Language, and Learning Graduate Diploma (LLLGD) program for one or more of the following courses:

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in a relevant area from an appropriately accredited institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for teaching in Graduate Diploma programs.
Evidence of current knowledge and experience with appropriate teaching methodology in the Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) education system, particularly in areas of literacy and language learning. Knowledge of the BC Curriculum. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills. Willingness and ability to function in a team setting; responsive to diverse cultural and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
The LLLGD program attracts primarily existing educators, eligibility for a British Columbia Teaching Certificate or equivalent is preferred. Experience with online teaching and course management; adult learners and/or teaching in post-secondary contexts. Familiarity with Vancouver Island University Faculty of Education graduate programs. Knowledge of Indigenous Principles of teaching and learning.
