    Summary

    Providence Health Care is HIRING a regular full-time Clinical Nurse Leader/Nurse Educator for the St. Paul's Hospital Operating Room

    St. Paul's Hospital is a Level 3 Trauma Centre and has 12 Operating Room suites.

    Future of OR in the New St. Paul's:

    Increased capacity is coming to the Surgical Program at the new St. Paul's Hospital. Operating rooms (ORs) are designed to be modern, flexible, and future-proof to optimize safety and improve patient outcomes.

    Qualifications / Skills and Education

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Three years of recent related experience in the Operating Room, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    • Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to coach and supervise.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.

  • Ability to identify learning needs and develop educational programs.

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of adult education principles.

  • Ability to teach and lead groups.

  • Ability to deal with and promote change.

    • Duties and Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Clinical Nurse Leader/Nurse Educator, Operating Room coordinates the day to day operations of the OR and supervises staff:

  • Acts as a clinical resource to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members in the provision of direct care to patients.
  • Assists in the promotion of research and quality improvement initiatives within the program.
  • Receiving work direction from the Director, Professional Practice & Nursing or designate, the Clinical Nurse Leader/Nurse Educator provides visible, accessible clinical support to the nursing staff as an education resource for staff in the clinical areas.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates educational programs for nursing staff and patients/families.
  • Performs direct nursing care as required.
