    The University of Ottawa Library consists of three main libraries - the Morisset Library (arts and sciences), the Brian Dickson Law Library and the Health Sciences Library - in addition to a number of specialized research collections.

    Perform tasks related to pre-ordering bibliographic research, ordering, paying for, receiving, claiming, cancelling or returning all materials ordered by the library.

    Search for bibliographic information (author, title, ISBN, ISSN, subjects, LC ratings) and commercial information (format, price, access) required to order all documents for the library on specialized suppliers' or publishers' websites.

    Purchase library goods by credit card in accordance with all relevant policies. Receive and validate materials received and perform analysis to determine what should be retained. Register invoices in the acquisition module and certify their accuracy.

    Make payments to suppliers in accordance with established policies and procedures and follow up, including reconciliation of payments; claim and process credits and renewals.

    Act as a resource to department members and suppliers regarding the acquisition of goods to explain processes, timelines and practices.

    Post-secondary training in Documentation Techniques or Library and Information or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
    At least one year's experience with an integrated library system, particularly the acquisitions management module.
    Experience in the use of computer systems and software such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail and internet.
    Bilingualism - French and English (oral and written).

    If this is a front-line position with responsibilities to interact with students, selected candidates must be rated at the Low Advanced proficiency level or higher for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language.

    The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.

    Prior to May 1, 2022, the University required all students, faculty, staff, and visitors (including contractors) to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as defined in Policy 129 – Covid-19 Vaccination.

    This policy was suspended effective May 1, 2022 but may be reinstated at any point in the future depending on public health guidelines and the recommendations of experts.
