    We are currently seeking a Junior Pavements Engineer to join our Vancouver, BC office. The position will provide exposure to a broad range of pavements engineering services which include pavement design and evaluation of both flexible and rigid pavement systems; development of maintenance, preservation and rehabilitation project designs; mechanistic pavement design; materials and construction specifications; forensic studies and investigations; pavement management systems, life cycle cost analysis and program development; and research and development.

    This position offers the opportunity to be a part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technologists, including Tetra Tech's world class non-destructive testing technologies (FWD, HWD, high speed inertial profilers with forward looking and 360 digital video and LiDAR, Class 1 profilers, Road Radar) supported by our construction and geotechnical specialists, to deliver innovative pavements engineering solutions for our public and private sector clients in Canada and the US.

    You will possess a good balance of technical competency coupled with the ability to apply that technical knowledge to bring practical experience and sound technology to each project. You will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to prepare technical reports that can both present technically complex data and analysis, and clear conclusions and recommendations that will address our client's needs.

    The salary range for this position is $69K to $79K per annum. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

    Some of the Responsibilities You May Have:

  • Conducting investigations and developing engineering solutions to pavement and construction materials testing issues. The focus will be on pavements and pavement-related issues, but duties could extend to identifying other aspects of roadway and pavement design and construction such as subgrade performance issues, embankment construction, seasonal construction difficulties, etc.
  • Conducting field assessment and remedial recommendations of pavement and subgrade related distresses. Assessments could be either for new construction or as part of a rehabilitation project.
  • Preparing technical letters and reports and participate in proposal development.
  • Providing pavement design input to geotechnical reports .
  • Liaising with all discipline team members, sub consultants, clients, and agencies.
  • Planning projects, developing accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules and deliverables to execute high quality projects on time and on budget.
  • Creating project plans and implementing sub-consultant and sub-contractor agreements.
  • Executing projects in compliance with Tetra Tech's Quality Management System procedures.
  • Qualifications that Would Make You A Great Candidate:

  • Degree in Civil, Geotechnical or other related Engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Travel will be required in this position.Candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments.Must be physically capable of performing the required field duties.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
  • Eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship.

    A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship (a copy of a valid work permit may be required).

    To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required but will be explained during the recruitment process if they are necessary. As this position may be serving clients that have vaccination requirements for site access, we may be confirming your eligibility to comply with this requirement.
