    Description

    Hagerty Garage + Social, a premium social club and storage facility for automotive enthusiast, has an opportunity for a Sous Chef at its Toronto (Burlington), Ontario location. As a Hagerty Garage + Social Sous Chef , you will be responsible for assisting the Chef with the overall success of the facility's food program and overseeing culinary activities. The Sous Chef will assist in all phases of planning, ordering, inventory, and food preparation. This includes adhering to health regulations and the company's and Members' standards and expectations of food quality, freshness and presentation.

    What you'll do

  • Assist the Chef in the operations of the kitchen.
  • Collaborate in menu development and planning.
  • Assist in the production, preparation, and presentation of all foods to ensure that a consistent quality product is produced.
  • Ensure a sufficient inventory is maintained to meet daily needs, record deliveries, manage discrepancies, and assist with storage.
  • Assist with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures.
  • Ensure accurate handling of all food products and equipment is maintained, to ensure food safety and kitchen standards are always adhered to.
  • Ensure cleanliness and high sanitation standards are always maintained.
  • Familiarity of public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable.

  • Collaborative culinary professional with knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Dedicated to a high level of customer service.
  • Prior experience in a related culinary position.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession.
  • Understanding of applicable food sanitation regulations.
  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
  • Experience managing people and/or problems.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel.
  • Excellent oral, reading, and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must be willing to be hands on with staff and operations and be willing to work event-based hours that may include evenings and weekends (club is currently open Wednesday to Sunday).

    This position will be worked out of our Hagerty Garage + Social facility in Burlington, Ontario.
