    Are you ready for a new and challenging opportunity? We are seeking an Engineering Mission Lead to be the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) between Engineering and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories' Mission areas. Does the idea of tracking an extensive portfolio of projects throughout the project lifecycle appeal to you? Are you interested in working with customers to identify current and future needs for engineering work, and provide project management support and oversight for delivery of design services? If so, this may be the role for you What you will be doing
    • Working closely with Directors, Managers and Project Leaders as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) between Design Engineering and CNL Mission Areas to deliver design services.
    • Tracking a portfolio of Design Engineering projects in various states and throughout the entire lifecycle.
    • Analyzing customer requests to develop and understand priority, scope and required engineering resources in order to execute the work. Help customers understand order of magnitude costs and schedule, potential risks, compliance requirements and interactions.
    • Assisting customers with Engineering Change Request submission and risk assessment completion, when required.
    • Will act as Engineering Representative (as per the Engineering Change Control process) and initiate the Compliance program reviews until role is assigned
    • Assigning Job Lead and Activity Owner with support from Mission Manager and perform turn-over to Job Lead.
    • Consulting with customers and stakeholders on a regular basis to monitor project progress and ensure that Engineering activities are being completed as required and escalates to the S&T Mission Manager.
    • Providing input to Line Management on acceptance or outsourcing of work.
    • Actively following up with various internal CNL departments to address and resolve outstanding issues associated with work/projects.
    • Organizing and chairing meetings to evaluate goals and required outcomes.
    • Participating in management team meetings related to project performance, priorities and staffing.
    • Reporting on project progress for clients, management and other stakeholders.
    • Establishing and maintains strong and effective customer relationships.
    • Providing suggestions for process improvements in job planning and execution of design work to enhance overall efficiency.
    • Attending site walk downs as needed, pre-job briefs (optional), kick-off meetings, post-job debriefs, and other project meetings as needed
    What we are looking for:
    • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma is required with a preferred focus in project management.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or a demonstrated equivalent in experience is an asset.
    • A minimum of 5-10 years of engineering, technical or project experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated project management expertise through successful leadership and delivery of large complex engineering jobs.
    • Experience leading cross functional teams and chairing meetings
    • Strong leadership and general management skills, including planning, time management, negotiation skills, contract management and administration, and progress reporting for an executive audience.
    • Advanced knowledge of Engineering Processes (e.g. ECC, FCR, RREC, etc.).
    • Demonstrated ability to read and understand specifications and drawings and interpret complex construction drawings.
    • Knowledgeable in Safety & Licensing, Procurement, QA, Planning and Control, Construction/ Installation, and applicable business systems.
    • High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with software systems such as EAMS, Oracle, and/or other applicable programs.
    • Self-motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to interact with peers, other departments, and external vendors.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable leading cross functional teams to accomplish objectives, form new relationships, optimize resources, and solve challenging problems.
    • Strong service orientation, initiative, and proven ability to meet concurrent deadlines in an environment of multiple priorities.
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and direction.
    • Demonstrates good judgment, initiative, strong drive, positive attitude and consistent, careful attention to detail.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential. This role must mobilize teams, building momentum to achieve results thorough effective and consistent communication. Negotiation skills and adaptability are required to encourage recognition of joint concerns, collaboration, and to influence the success of outcomes.
    • Familiarity with industry best practices and standards to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Working knowledge of all applicable company and general safety regulations and procedures.
    • Working knowledge of Engineering Change Control, CNL and Engineering procedures, work practices and records management systems
    Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.     Location of Work - Hybrid
    • This role is based out of CNL's Chalk River site, however, subject to the terms of this agreement, the primary work location will be remote. The role will require some regular and frequent attendance at the Chalk River site. The schedule and frequency will be determined by discussions with the manager as well as internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
