Professor, Bachelor, Film and Media Production

Salary:
Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees


What you will do:


The incumbent will teach, develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement; work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations, oversee cinematography/image-based curriculum across the Bachelor of Film and Media Production program, and advise on equipment purchases.

Teaching will be assigned at both the North and Lakeshore campuses and may include teaching at the International Graduate School (Toronto).


The incumbent will also support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs and develop and maintain strong industry ties.


What you bring to the role:

Education

Experience and Skills


Industry acumen and experience is required, experience and demonstrated ability to teach a number of courses offered by the college, along with specialized skills in the following areas: history, theory and practice of cinematography, introductory to advanced, both digital and analog; technical and artistic experience with camera, lighting, grip, and colour grading equipment, software, and technologies; visual storytelling for narrative, documentary, and other media; knowledge of immersive and emergent technologies an asset.

Secondary specialization in one or more of the following:

documentary filmmaking; directing; film and media theory; screenwriting; story editing; production design; editing and post-production; location and post audio; visual effects; virtual production; producing and production management; project development; entertainment law, industry & entrepreneurship.
