Position Overview
The Team Lead (Camp Volunteer Coordination) reports directly to Asst.

Manager, Community Science Connections and Manager, Community Science Connections, and will work closely during the recruitment and onboarding stage with the Manager, Volunteer Programs.

The Team Lead (Camp Volunteer Coordination
) is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the volunteers assigned to our Camp Programs during the summer.

By being a bridge between the Camp Leadership team and our volunteers, they will ensure that volunteers are scheduled and prepped for their daily activities within the camp teams.

They will also support their supervision so that opportunities for learning and growth are identified and addressed on an ongoing basis.

This will ensure that not only the volunteers receive a valuable learning experience through supporting our camp programs but that the campers within our programs have a more fulsome and supported learning experience.


As we prioritize that all staff and youth involved in our camp programs receive the social-emotional support they need as the day progresses, Team Lead (Camp Volunteer Coordination) will also contribute to program delivery and camper support by acting as a float within programs as needed.

Through this, they will gain and grow their program delivery knowledge, classroom management skills, de-escalation techniques, and general administrative skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daytoday recruitment and management of campspecific volunteers, including recruitment correspondence, answering questions, supporting onboarding, daytoday scheduling, instructing and training volunteers in program tasks as needed, and assisting the exit surveys and interviews.
  • Receive dedicated instruction and training from the Asst. Manager and Manager, Community Science Connections in scheduling, program design and execution, and materials preparation and management. This training will be specifically tailored to the needs of our volunteers and how they support our programs so that the assistant can ensure each volunteer is properly instructed and trained in the activities they will undertake during the summer. Examples of this include safe tool use, and inquirybased learning techniques.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure all schedule needs are captured and coordinated.
  • Providing extra support for campers with exceptionalities as needed
  • Daytoday coordination of the camp volunteer team with such tasks as materials prep, support for challenging activities, filling in for leaders in case of illness, providing support in cases of challenging Camper behaviors, or supporting client needs and providing excellent customer service as required.
  • Support the Asst. Manager, Community Science Connections in daytoday administrative tasks such as scanning and filing of documents, assembling supply shopping lists, and updating supply inventory tracking documents.
  • Address volunteer questions and requests for support. Seek additional training and support for volunteers and the leadership team as required.
  • Update volunteer profiles through our volunteer management system and track their success throughout the summer so that we can provide them with fulsome references upon departure.
  • Take an ongoing learning approach to maintain the quality of programming through learning new teaching techniques and practices, soft skill development, and engaging in training programs offered internally.
