Become a connected Data Center Infrastructure Manager


The eStruxture Data Center Infrastructure manager is a critical operational role to manage the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and optimization of the critical infrastructure.

This position is mainly focused on Mechanical & Electrical systems operations, monitoring, preventative maintenance, optimization & incident management.

The role's ultimate objective is to provide the highest levels of availability and uptime for data center critical systems in a rapidly changing, high growth environment.

The DCIM role reports to the Data Center Manager.

Your contribution
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor proper operation of Data Centre Infrastructure, such as CRAH units, UPS units, chillers, pumps, and generators.
  • Assist DCM in the region to plan preventative maintenances with vendors.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with preferred partners, vendors, customers & colleagues.
  • Optimize Mechanical systems to reduce energy consumption while ensuring uptime.
  • Create, maintain, and review mechanical systems MOP's, SOP's and ensure that all procedures are followed.
  • Review Vendor Service Contracts scope of work and provide proposals of outsourcing versus internal activities.
  • Participate and support audit/compliance programs.
  • Assist DCM's in preparing Change Control Board information for Mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Provide budgetary input to DCM's during forecasting cycles and ensure adherence to, OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
  • Create and maintain open issues list (backlog)
  • Management & communication of critical environment incidents
  • Available off hours for emergencies.

Working Conditions
The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents.

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.

This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment up to 40lbs; it may require working in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines.


The profile we are looking for

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with mechanical/electrical systems (CRAH, UPS, chiller, pump, generator, etc.).
  • Experience in mission critical facilities environments.
  • Experience in operating & maintaining closed loop chiller systems.

Competencies

  • Extremely process driven and a high degree of quality, precision and care needed.
  • Able to deliver independently and take lead on local initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Proficiency in English.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of data center topologies, standards, and best practices. Uptime Institute tiering, BICSI and ASHRAE *an asset*.
  • Knowledge of Provincial Building Codes & Regulations *an asset
  • Intermediate excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
