Reporting to the Sr Manager, HRBP, the HR Advisor is responsible for providing strategic HR consulting and problem-solving solutions to site Leadership Teams and provide HR support to employees within the Potash Business Unit.


What you will do:


  • Provide HR guidance to the Patience Lake, New Brunswick and Potash Engineering Technology Capital (ETC) teams and contribute to a people perspective supporting the successful execution of the Potash business strategy
  • Serve as an unbiased consultant to the business to mitigate risk to the company by ensuring fair treatment and a balanced approach for those impacted by the implementation of new policy, procedures and/or organizational change, problem resolution and human capital decisions
  • Actively administer labour relations by:
  • Establishing relationships with union leadership
  • Creating forums for proactive and effective dialogues with union leadership
  • Assisting with the grievance process through collaborative dialogue between management and union with the intent of representing management while striving for workable resolutions
  • Actively involve and consult with the Senior HR Manager and the Corporate Labour Relations team in grievance review to ensure past practices are explored and accounted for, with all resolutions gaining approval from the General Manager or designate
  • Assist leaders through the recruitment process, including selecting and retaining talent for their teams
  • Oversee HR programs and processes including performance management, compensation and benefits, talent retention and attraction, health and wellness, etc.
  • Act as a support and resource for employees with questions and requests throughout their employee life cycle
  • Work with leaders to implement new or annual HR initiatives
  • Support HR leadership with various reporting and metric tracking
  • Onboard new employees and foster a positive ongoing workplace experience for employees in the Potash Business Unit
  • Complete HR transactional tasks including employee letters, requisitions, communication/notices, and general transactions
  • Support Diversity and Inclusion initiatives within Nutrien including HR partnerships with the Nutrien Employee Resource Groups

What you will bring:


  • Diploma or Degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience with proven career growth path in a global organization
  • Experience with large ERP systems (SAP preferred, but not imperative) and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Strong ability to develop relationships, with management and union leaders/members
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions
  • Ability to develop, implement and manage change effectively
  • Experience in a fastpaced growth environment, providing strategic direction from a human resources standpoint
  • Ability to balance the requirements of the Potash HR department and the clients which we support
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and regulations
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with and influence individuals in different disciplines and at different levels
  • Excellent judgment and creative problemsolving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability working in a matrix environment to reduce typical business information silos in order to increase cooperation and communication and work more effectively across business functions
