Summary:
Responsible for the safe set up and operation of one or more machines and related operations on machines, and finishing grinding using template gauge.
Major Responsibilities (but not limited to):
· Ensure a safe environment for workers, staff and visitors.
· Wear all required PPE while completing tasks.
· Ensure work areas comply with proper housekeeping and safety procedures at all times.
· Follow routing instructions to ISO standards.
· Maintain accurate record of required information on operator work sheets by heat numbers.
· Advise supervisor of defective equipment and parts without delay.
· Meet the standards, both time and quality related, set out by supervisors and managers.
· Be aware and knowledgeable in safe material handling techniques and be conversant in the safe operation of all material handling equipment.
· Perform other duties as required.
Education, Training and Experience:
· Minimum Grade 12 education required
· Health and Safety Training (including Confined Space, Working at Heights, WHMIS, ISO 9001, etc.) considered an asset.
· Knowledge of CNC machining or special purpose machines is an asset (pull bore machines).
· Proficient in using metrology instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges...
· Proficient in shop math and trigonometry.
· Being able to edit CNC programs on machine controls.
· Proficient in interpreting drawings and sketches.
· Being able to work to tight tolerance +/- 0.001"
· Previous experience with CNC machining
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
· Able to proficiently do own set ups with minimal supervision
· Able to multi task with minimal supervision in a fast paced work place.
· Demonstrate strong problem solving skills to proactively identify and correct potential issues regarding machines and production.
· Demonstrated ability operating basic machine shop simple maintenance principles.
· Ability to use overhead cranes, jib hoists moving product as required.
· Demonstrated proficient understanding of machine surface requirements and tolerances.
· Demonstrate proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.).
Hourly Wage Rate:
$28.54 / hour (Current 2024 rate)
Shift Premium
Second Shift 3pm – 11pm: $1.15
Third Shift 11pm – 7am: $1.40
Benefits:
Full benefits, including EFAP available from first day of hire.
Defined Contribution Pension Plan begins after successful completing 90 worked day probationary period
PPE:
All PPE including safety boots paid for by the Company
