If you are looking for a dynamic and challenging work environment with a fun, diverse and dedicated team, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is the place for you The Indigenous Strategy Division at SSHRC provides advice and leadership to support the implementation of the tri-agency strategic plan to support Indigenous research.

This includes working with internal stakeholders across programs and with Indigenous partners and advisors to initiate and harmonize key projects and policies and improving the research ecosystem in support of Indigenous self-determination.

The results of this competition may be used to staff similar term or indeterminate positions within SSHRC and NSERC.


Job Summary:


Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Strategy, this position provides administrative services to the division, including managing schedules, convening meetings, preparing agendas, planning travel, submitting expense claims, managing information, and writing and editing documents.

Working in a fast-paced environment, the position will work collaboratively across divisions also support key elements of the coordination of meetings and implementation work, as well as manage general correspondence with external stakeholders and partners as required.


Statement of Qualifications:


Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent


Experience:

Experience in the provision of secretarial and clerical services.
Experience in maintaining program and financial record systems.
Experience in planning, organizing meetings and making travel arrangements.


Knowledge:

Knowledge of the Council's objectives, policies, procedures and program structure.
Knowledge of general administrative procedures.
Knowledge of the research community and of the university setting in Canada.
Knowledge of various office software, such as word processing, spreadsheets and electronic agendas.


Competencies:

Excellent planning and organizational skills
Being self-motivated and showing initiative
Adaptability, judgment and thoroughness
