    Description

    Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd., is looking for an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer with minimum five years of relevant experience to join our Power and Transportation team in our growing Toronto office.

    Role Responsibilities:

    1. Join a dynamic company of motivated professionals, committed to delivering high quality engineering services;
    2. Apply your knowledge to challenging structural and civil engineering projects, from conceptual through detailed design, to construction monitoring and project completion;
    3. Work on a range of interesting projects, typically involving:
      1. Design of new hydropower facilities and transportation infrastructure
      2. Retrofit and/or rehabilitation of existing hydraulic structures and transportation infrastructure
      3. Dam safety reviews and related investigations and assessments
    4. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on project teams;
    5. Carry out site investigations and coordinate projects in construction; and
    6. Travel within Ontario, Canada, and occasionally International

    Role Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated experience in geotechnical design of hydraulic structures, transportation infrastructure and project coordination;
    • Demonstrated knowledge of industry codes and standards;
    • Analytical skills with various computational tools – GeoStudio suite, RocScience suite, Deepsoil, ProShale, etc;
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and ArcGIS, proficiency in use of the MS Office suite of products;
    • Working knowledge in the following areas (not essential, but an asset):
      • Earthfill dam design
      • Spillway and intake design
      • Penstock and/or lined tunnel design
      • Highway and railway grade design
      • Bridge foundation design
      • Seismic assessments (stability, Response Spectrum Analysis, time history analysis, floor design spectrum development)
      • Seismic design of structures including performance based seismic design
      • Knowledge of Canadian Dam Association guidelines and regulations
      • Knowledge of Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association
      • Dam safety reviews and assessment of compliance with typical practice and regulatory requirements
    • Ability to think critically on engineering problems and to be innovative;
    • Interest in mentoring and developing junior staff; and
    • Willingness to travel to remote sites, if required (eligible for travel, have valid driver's license)

    Mandatory Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering;
    • Minimum of 5 years related experience; and
    • Registration as Professional Engineer in Ontario, or the ability to register (existing registration as a P.E. in any US states would be a benefit)
