GE Healthcare (GEHC) was a $18B segment of General Electric Company (GE). GEHC spun off from GE on January 3, 2023.

On January 4, 2023, the GEHC common stock began its regular-way trading on The Nasdaq Stock Market LLC ("Nasdaq") under the ticker symbol "GEHC." The GEHC corporate headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois.

This role will be responsible for managing the tax reporting and filing processes for the GEHC business in Canada.

The scope includes managing monthly sales tax filings, annual income tax filings, and audits with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and other tax authorities, as well supporting the business with tax reviews, requests, and tax advice.

The Statutory and Tax Specialist will lead the sales, income tax and transfer price audits and act as the direct point of contact with CRA and other tax authorities on all legal entity audits.

The resource will also interact with external tax advisors on key tax interpretations and opinions.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead all tax audits (i.e., sales tax, income tax, transfer price) with CRA and other tax authorities for GEHC legal entities in Canada.
  • Liaise with the CRA and other tax authorities on all audits, including coordinating audit requests, compiling all required supporting documentation, and reviewing audit opinions. The role includes working with the CRA and tax authorities to resolve tax disputes, conclude on audit opinions, and ensure payments or refunds are properly accounted for by each respective legal entity.
  • As authorized CRA/tax representative, manage all tax audits accounts for GEHC legal entities in Canada, and ensure they are current.
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of the annual income tax submission, including preparing and filing the partnership and Corporation income tax returns by the required deadlines, and providing the business with the required income tax installment schedules.
  • Responsible for ensuring that any sales, income tax and transfer price legislative changes are communicated to the business and implemented in a timely fashion. Support the business with close activities, including required journal entries, tax adjustments and account reconciliations.
  • Review the legal entity transfer price analysis and documentation.
  • Liaise with internal / external audit teams as required, and support SOX cycles as required.
  • Partake in legal entity simplification initiatives, including the review and closure of any tax implications.
  • Identify potential business tax risks and opportunities and effectively communicate to the business.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in accounting or finance.
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a minimum of 8 years of progressive Canadian tax related experience.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the Income Tax Act, Canadian GAAP, and month/quarterend reporting processes.
  • Extensive experience working with financial systems including but not limited to Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, Business Objects and/or other related tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner.
  • Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link tax legislation to business operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change.
  • Clear thinking/problem solving successfully led projects/process improvements within operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas.
  • Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others.
  • Confidence/Assertiveness: strong influencing skills.
