We are looking for a Finance Lead (Controller) to join a fast-growing proptech startup. This role will play an integral part in Wahi's financial management.

As Finance Lead at Wahi, you will lead and own the financial accounting, reporting, and treasury functions - from ensuring accurate execution on a day-to-day basis, to optimizing and reimagining team workflows to improve process efficiency.

This role open to being fully remote within Canada and we do have an office at a 96 Spadina Ave, Toronto for anyone looking for a hybrid opportunity

Responsibilities:

Accountable for the leadership and smooth functioning of Wahi's financial accounting and reporting functions.
Ownership of General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and good understanding of activities and trends at a supplier and project level
Key liaison with professional services firms regarding all accounting matters, including tax credit projects
Ownership of operating costs, monitoring and reporting costs while ensuring cost optimization opportunities are considered
Oversight of approval queues including employee payroll, A/P, and capex
Monthly review of general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliations
Lead the identification and implementation of new and changing accounting standards
Accountable for communication with the CRA and ensuring accuracy in all tax filings
Oversight and ownership of SR&ED and Quebec E-Business tax credit projects
Team lead in banking relationship with our bank actively monitor cash flows for all bank accounts to ensure adequate liquidity at all times

Qualifications:

5+ years of relevant Controller experience
CPA designation
Real estate industry experience a plus
High level of Excel and QuickBooks Online proficiency a plus
Wahi FinOps tech stack includes: Dext, Plooto, Float Card, Wealthsimple, Lone Wolf, Abacum
