    About the team and role:

    Advertising is one of the fastest growing areas in eBay which in some ways, will define the future of eBay. Digital advertising as an industry is growing rapidly, and the landscape is shifting as e-Commerce advertisers are finding better value with e-Commerce companies like eBay. As they shift budget from the duopoly of google and facebook, it creates a huge opportunity for eBay.

    Advertising is also amplifying eBay's e-Commerce by providing a tool for our sellers to move inventory and for buyers, by surfacing high quality items.

    Specifically, we are seeking a skilled Data Scientist/Analyst with specialized experience in Search CPA (Cost-Per-Acquisition) Advertising and deep understanding on the value proposition of different modules on different search page types, on top of a solid foundation in standard data science proficiencies to partner closely with the eBay Advertising product team.

    As a critical member of the Advertising Product Insights team, you will influence the Ads Product roadmap with your insights and thought leadership. You will find opportunities to drive dynamic change in the customer experience that results in significant business growth.

    What you will accomplish:

    • Expertise in search experience, ads module, trust signal impact, and a comprehensive grasp of advertising value propositions and keen insights into buyer preferences within the search landscape
    • Your contributions will be pivotal in driving balanced growth for eBay's search ads business as well as improving the overall buyer experience

    What you will bring:

    • 2+ years of experience in analytics/data science and Prefer M.S. degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Business Administration or Business Analytics
    • Proven track record of turning insights into product growth opportunities in prior roles with growing scope and responsibilities.
    • Experience with both descriptive and inferential statistics – ability to build basic prototype models
    • Experience in search and deep understanding of CPC auction mechanism
    • Balance of critical thinking and hands-on analyses using tools & packages such as SQL, R, Python, Tableau, etc.
    • Good technical skills to turn big data in Hadoop into impactful insights.
    • Ability to see the big picture and connect the dots to evaluate how the insights impact eBay's ecosystem.
