    The Portage Group is a national consulting firm providing pragmatic and future-focused consulting solutions to associations, not-for-profit, and regulatory organizations.

    Our areas of expertise include research, strategy, executive search, and general management consulting. This position is with an industry association client.

    Position Focus:
    Regulatory Affairs – Industry Standards

    You have been instrumental in shaping and standardizing industry regulations working with manufacturers, governments, and industry partners.

    This opportunity for an experienced Standards & Regulatory Affairs manager will have you collaborating directly with association members comprising domestic companies and global brands.

    A key outcome will be the harmonization of Canadian, US, and global standards.


    Current or prior experience is necessary with a standards organization, in regulatory affairs for an industry group (e.g., association or regulatory body), or similar setting where you've had to represent and advance the shared interests of a sector and shape government policy.

    You have a degree in a relevant technical or professional area such as engineering and/or public affairs.


    Additional requirements:

    • Project management skills including priority setting, planning, and budgeting.
    • Working understanding of the government regulatory process.
    • Flexibility to travel when required, including to the United States.
    • Strong analytic and policy development skills.
    • Proven communication skills (verbal and written); ability to influence and work independently.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
    • Experience working with member-based organizations.
    The employer is GTA-based (Pearson airport area) and a national industry association. Please note this is an in-office role. Compensation is in the low 100s.
