Scope


The mining geologist at Weir Motion Metrics will work alongside software, AI and hardware specialists, you will use your geology expertise to develop an artificial intelligence-based technology that "sees" through the ore and quickly understands its properties and impact on the mining processing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect field samples and arrange sample testing
  • Perform geological tests and examination of ore samples
  • Compile research findings into a general model and framework for use by software and AI processing tools
  • Management of sample data library and classification models
  • Keeps on top of trends related to geology and mining

Requirements:


  • Bachelor/Masters or PhD
  • Understanding of ore properties: hardness, moisture, minerology, alternations and how it impacts the mining process
  • Understanding rock types, structures, and processes by which they are altered and form ore bodies.
  • Knowledge and experience of ore testing methods and procedures
  • Work in indoor and outdoor conditions when traveling to mine sites
  • Familiarity with largescale (mine) geological model preparation, limitations, technology, and testing

Beneficial Skills:

  • Mine operation experience and understanding of how mineralogy affects mine processing efficiency.
  • Ability to simplify complex geological information into digestible and functional information for use in technology and explanation to laypeople.
