At Merit Kitchens, the Intermediate Assembler will use various machines and equipment to fit parts and subassemblies together to create cabinets.

The Intermediate Assembler will ensure excellent finish and contribute to the quality control system to ensure all built cabinets meet the Merit standard.

Hours: 6:45AM to 3:15PM.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work with and gather different materials including engineered wood products, veneers, and fine hardwoods.
  • Select and verify the quality of work to meet required specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and part specifications.
  • Use shapers, molders, rulers, measuring tape, and electronic equipment to accurately measure wood, and mark outlines or dimensions, for cutting and shaping.
  • Set up and operate saws and other woodworking machines to cut, shape, and form parts.
  • Sand, detail, and finish assembled materials for shipment.
  • Create standard components of cabinets including accessories, dovetails, and assemble the sides, tops, and bottoms of the cabinets together.
  • Assist with drawer box production and paperwork.
  • Assist in the manufacturing of kitchen cabinets via clamping, fitting, wrapping, and pulling.
  • Ensure and attach fittings and other components to finished cabinetry.
  • Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units using glue and clamps, and reinforcing joints using nails, screws, and other fasteners.
  • Ensure excellent fit, finish, and operability of finished cabinets and parts.
  • When necessary, assist in the production of line of other departments including Panel Processing, Fabrication, Finishing, Doors & Parts, and Shipping.

The Intermediate Assembler may perform other duties as delegated by Management.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:


  • 1+ year of cabinetry experience.
  • Prior experience in assembling kitchen cabinets is considered an asset.
  • Understand the safe operation of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Time management, organization, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills.

SALARY/WAGE EXPECTATION:


  • Hourly wage of $17.00 to $20.00 based on experience.
