The Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852 to serve both as a yachting recreational club and an unofficial auxiliary of the Royal Navy in the defense of the waters of Lake Ontario.

We are one of Canada's premier sailing and social clubs, with an emphasis on family participation, the development of our junior sailors, and a Corinthian attitude towards excellence in sailing.

The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto.

With over 4700 Members we have extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.

Job Duties

  • Have full knowledge of beverage wine lists and promotions
  • Ensure compliance with provincial liquor legislation and regulations
  • Assist Bar Manager with bar inventory
  • Responsible for set up of Indoor and outdoor Banquet Bars
  • Maintain supplies including, fresh garnishes and clean glassware
  • Ensure the lounge is attended and is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Prepare drink orders for service staff as requisitioned via chit printer
  • Prepare drink orders for members and guests over counter
  • Table service as required
  • Assist in setting up/take down bar for events (i.e. weddings, regattas)
  • Responsible for the upkeep of Food and Beverage storage areas

Requirements:


  • Must hold valid Smart Serve certification
  • Previous bartending experience preferred
  • Knowledge of wine types and varietals as well as proper wine pour service
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Energetic and flexible, able to work well under pressure
  • Previous customer service experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of sailing is not mandatory, but considered an asset

Hours of Work

  • Seasonal position (May-August), Parttime 23 Shifts a week
  • Able to work shifts (day/afternoons/evenings including weekends)
