Description

This role is responsible for designing, managing, and supporting various network and voice technologies as well as external service providers to ensure that optimized, secure and reliable Network Infrastructure services are available to meet Meridian's needs today and it is positioned for future direction.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced often changing environment, and a varied network engineering skillset.
Responsible for the Network design/implementation/support of all Meridian locationsDefine and execute maintenance plans as part of IT's preventive strategy for the stability and reliability of our Infrastructure
Deploy networking solutions by using the Azure Portal and other methods, including PowerShell, Azure Command-Line Interface (CLI), and Azure Resource Manager templates (ARM templates)
Develop and test new network architecture in response to business-driven requests for additional functionality
Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with other specialists on network optimization
Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access
Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects
Configuration and administration of routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services, firewalls, SD-WAN solutions, load balancers and branch WiFi in line with IT security policies
Capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers
Assess workload, operational needs and ensure a balanced distribution across the Network Operations team
Provide mentorship and expertise to less senior members to allow for knowledge growth and collaboration across the team
Work with direct manager to determine work tasks that will help individuals with training and growth plans
Supply direct manager with input into team and staff personal performance
Assist in building and maintaining standard operating procedures for all assigned technologies
Communicate issues in a timely manner and propose effective solutions to management with regards to 3 rd level technology incidents (including research, analysis, and troubleshooting of a variety of undefined problems)
Engage with vendors to isolate and troubleshoot networking issues, identify root cause and apply a permanent fix
Assist in identifying and escalating performance issues, and make recommendations on ensuring the existing infrastructure environment operates in accordance with our SLA's
Tier 1 (Service Desk), Tier 2 (Client Services), Infrastructure & Cloud Operations, Information Security and Solutions Development
Work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that the infrastructure technology being implemented is compatible with current standards and aligned with future goals
Liaising with project management teams, third-line infrastructure and Information Security specialists and service desk on a regular basis
Assist in estimating time and resources for projects
Assist with managing a complex multi-vendor technology infrastructure environment at data centers and head offices
Assist in assessing resource requirements on corporate projects as required
Provide input into and develop project plans as required.
Due to 24/7 demand for availability of infrastructure an on-call support rotation is in place resulting in frequent requirement for unsocial hours.
Professional who has the subject-matter expertise in network and voice technologies and experience to be an effective internal consultantExpertise on LAN, WAN, VXLAN, WLAN built on Cisco network infrastructure
Expertise in planning, implementing, and maintaining Azure networking solutions, including hybrid networking, connectivity, routing, security, and private access to Azure services
Experience with Network Load Balancers
Experience in the implementation and administration of SD-WAN solutions
Knowledge and hands on expertise on PaloAlto firewalls and Zero Trust Networking
Detail knowledge of Windows Networking Services (DNS, DHCP, DFSR)
Virtual Server Technologies Expertise
Microsoft Windows server 2012\2016\2019
SIP Trunking and Configuration
Experience with Infrastructure monitoring and alerting software such as Solarwinds and System Center Operations Manager
Virtual storage technologies, iSCSI and Fibre Channel
Solid Infrastructure Design, Planning, and Documentation Skills
Non-Technical Skills
10 + years' related industry/professional experience with implementing and managing technologies in a complex, multi-platform computing/network environment with responsibility for problem identification and resolution
