Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the
Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a busy and high-performing HR department.

They will lead and develop team members, as well as providing support and guidance to business leaders in a unionized environment.


Responsibilities

  • Team management, coaching and delegation of workloads
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance to Managers on disciplinary measures, including terminations
  • Provide recommendations to Managers in the annual compensation review and coordinate the process
  • Pursue and obtain workplace accreditations
  • Review and recommend improvements to Performance Management process
  • Development of Career Path planning including implementation of necessary technology
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Work with internal business partners to improve current processes and increase efficiencies
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management in effectively managing Human Resources initiatives, programs, and activities
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
  • Analyze trends and metrics to identify issues and develop effective HR solutions, programs, and policies in response
  • Management of union relations, including the grievance process
  • Collective bargaining of union agreements
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a supervisory Human Resources role
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources or Business
  • Experience in the construction industry (as well as industrial, manufacturing, etc.) is a definite asset
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including change management, facilitation, coaching and conflict resolution
  • Proven ability to influence and to drive change
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment is an asset
