    ES8927 Risk Assessment in Environmental Management
    This course examines the application of risk analysis and assessment in environmental management. It reviews the methods of estimating probabilities and consequences of risks in the environment including new technologies, chemicals, biological agents and

    risk generating facilities. Risk analysis includes risk identification, risk pathways, exposure models and dose-response relationships.
    The course also sets out the principles of risk management and the process by which risks are perceived and communicated in makingenvironmental decisions. A critical evaluation of risk assessment in environmental decision making is supported by a review of selectedcases. 1 Credit

    PLEASE NOTE: Pursuant to the University's and as a condition of employment, all successful candidates will be required to either submit valid proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or receive a . Course delivery in Winter 2023 will be online, in-person or hybrid at the sole discretion of the hiring unit. Candidates hired for in-person courses will be required to carry out their teaching on campus. Candidates teaching remotely are required to have access to the appropriate technology, i.e. computer with camera and microphone and high-speed internet.

    Education
    - A PhD degree in toxicology or health sciences is required, and environmental professional designation is desirable.
    - Experience and knowledge in the fields of environmental toxicology or environmental risk assessment is desirable.

    T eaching Experience
    Taught a similar course in a graduate program at Toronto Metropolitan University.
    Practice field experience
    Familiarity with the general field and practice of environmental economics in Canada.

    Currency
    Academic publications more than 5 years ago or current (less than 5 years) professional profile (including professional or academic presentations).
