    Description

    Role impact:

    The Manager, Sustainability is responsible for developing and managing industry leading sustainability programs and platforms across CF's portfolio. The primary focus of the role is to ensure the continued success of CF's award-winning sustainability programs such as Green at Work and green building certifications while advancing CF's leadership position and ESG strategy implementation through best-in-class sustainability management for building operations.

    This role will engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and lead collaboration on specific portfolio and property initiatives, to meet program objectives, and will require knowledge of industry best practices for sustainability, green building certifications and building operations. The successful candidate will support achievement of CF's ESG targets through providing a best-in-class program and a data platform.

    The Sustainability Manager will have the opportunity to positively impact our industry and communities in which we live and work, resulting in strong client/customer relations, risk mitigation, resource protection, and operational efficiencies across our properties.

    What you will deliver:

  • Oversee CF's portfolio-wide sustainability program supporting CF's ESG approach, through sustainability best practices and a sustainability data management platform. Strong engagement with property teams is needed to ensure continued success of this program.
  • Manage and continuously improve the sustainability data management platform for the collection, analysis and verification of data including benchmarking, target achievement tracking for energy and water efficiency, waste diversion, emissions reductions, utilities budgets and avoided costs. Act as primary vendor contact, communicating ongoing requirements and enhancements to the platform, tracking and escalating as required.
  • Manage systems and processes for reporting to internal and external stakeholders on financial, energy, water, waste and emissions data to clients, government/regulatory, certification bodies, internal audit, sustainability team as well as portfolio and property operations teams. Evaluate opportunities for optimizing ESG data platforms and tools.
  • Manage the centralized utilities invoice management program, ensuring effective processes are followed by third-party vendors and internal teams. Liaise with key clients and JV partners to support client and partner experience through opportunities for building sustainability performance improvements, client engagement programs, and data sharing
  • Provide budget guidance for properties related to certifications and sustainability best practice Support operating costs reductions through performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Maximize ROI through pursuit of incentives.
  • Work closely with Climate and Energy team on initiatives such as Zero Carbon certification and decarbonization strategy
  • What your strengths are:

  • Ability to work with data management systems for sustainability reporting and energy management
  • Strong skills in building performance data analysis, design of tracking systems, and ability to interpret sustainability KPIs, to drive improved performance.
  • Functional Knowledge with industry environmental standards ( LEED, BOMA BEST, WELL, ENERGY STAR)
  • Proven project planning and time management skills
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Process-oriented and continuous improvement mindset ( Six Sigma)
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and team members of varying levels of seniority for effective collaboration to achieve corporate objectives
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks
  • Ability to produce high quality, timely, cost effective results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create effective presentation material ( PowerPoint)
  • Proficient computer skills including: Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Sheets
  • What you need to succeed:

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Management, Architecture or another related field; or equivalent experience
  • years in an energy or environmental sustainability in commercial real estate related position
  • Knowledge of building operations and industry best practices, certifications and standards related to energy, carbon emissions, water, waste, and procurement for commercial office and retail properties
  • Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels and lead collaboration on specific initiatives
  • Knowledge of property management, and building operations
  • Familiarity with project management concepts and best practices
  • Experience with sustainability program management, reporting and ESG data platforms
  • Business financial knowledge an asset
  • Familiarity with utility vendor billing practices (an asset)
