    On July 27, 2023, TC Energy announced the intention to spin off our Liquids Pipelines business and separate into two independent, investment-grade, publicly listed companies - TC Energy and South Bow. Please note that all hires will continue to be formally employed by a TC Energy employing entity until the separation is complete.

    The Opportunity

    Our South Bow Controller team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Calgary to support Internal and External Reporting for South Bow.

    Reporting to the Vice President and Controller, we are seeking an experienced accounting professional for the Manager, Internal and External Reporting, for South Bow. In this role, the selected candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge and expertise in financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvement. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be a proven leader with a strong track record of effectively managing high-performing teams. They will bring success stories in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent for the organization.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished accounting professional to take on expanded responsibilities in a key leadership position.

    What you'll do

    • Financial Reporting:
      • Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
      • Prepare FERC, Stats Canada, CER and AER regulatory and compliance reporting
      • Coordinate with external auditors during the audit process.
      • Ensure accurate and timely filing of financial reports with regulatory bodies (ASC, OSC, and SEC).
      • Monitor changes in accounting standards and update internal policies accordingly.
      • Prepare various entity and partner financial statements.
      • Assist with the preparation of ESG Reporting and collaborate with Investor Relations on investor communications.
    • Internal Controls:
      • Collaborate with Internal Audit to enhance internal controls related to financial reporting.
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
      • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
    • Internal Reporting:
      • Develop internal reporting packages and KPIs to support quality decision-making and monitor company performance.
      • Enhance managerial accounting processes to improve internal reporting for senior management.
      • Provide accounting expertise for project evaluations and M&A activity.
      • Provide insights on financial performance, trends, and variances.
      • Review legal entity financial statements for financing and tax purposes.
      • Address inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
    • Technical Accounting:
      • Research and interpret complex accounting issues.
      • Prepare technical memos and provide guidance on accounting treatments.
      • Support the implementation of new accounting standards.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • University degree in Business, Commerce or related field
    • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
    • Minimum 12+ years of progressive accounting related experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Working knowledge and experience in Workiva or other financial reporting applications
    • Progressive experience at a public company in the North American energy sector
    • Leadership experience managing teams in a high change environment
    • Superior analytical and problem solving skills
    • Demonstrates the ability to make decisions and recommendations within established accounting procedures
    • Self-motivated with a strong analytical skill set willing to learn and tackle new challenges on an on-going basis
    • Has the ability to exercise independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information as well as handle deviations from standard methods
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
    • Proven team player with the ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
