The Upstream Financial Accounting & Analysis Conventional Capital Accounting team has an opportunity for a highly motivated individual which enjoys working in a dynamic environment while collaborating with members inside and outside of the finance and accounting organization.


The main purpose of the role is to provide financial support to both the Conventional Development team and the Innovation team.

The role will focus on ensuring expenditures are properly recorded, analyzed and reported. This includes booking accruals, tracking project activities, analyzing spending to ensure accuracy of financial results.

Responsibilities:


  • Booking and analyzing monthly capital accruals.
  • Review records and results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monthly cost analysis and variance analysis, including explanations of spend and variances to budget and forecast.
  • Work with Business to setup and review WBS's, steward various workflows and advise use of applicable accounting treatment.
  • Assist with monthly Performance Management Reporting.
  • Record journal entries.
  • Participate in quarterly financial statement review and provide information to the financial statement preparers for areas under your accountability.
  • Work with tax and audit teams to assist with audit queries.
  • Prepare quarterly accounting memos.

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in an accounting role.
  • Completed a university degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Oil and Gas experience preferred.
  • Highly organized, adaptive and flexible to deliver time sensitive material.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting practices (IFRS knowledge).
  • Collaborates well with others; will need to work closely with the business and finance teams.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver on core accountabilities.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and flexibility to learn new systems and processes is an asset.
