- Perform required sample processing (e.g. sub-sampling, acid digestions, etc.),following documented specific methods and procedures;
- Perform routine analyses for gravimetrics, including data assessment, and preparation of reports;
- Perform validations/verifications on laboratory equipment according to a set schedule;
- Prepare all required reagents, stock solutions, working standards, etc.;
- Purchase laboratory supplies, and maintain an inventory where applicable/appropriate;
- Aid in work scheduling, workflow and planning activities;
- Carry out all required record-keeping and documentation as outlined in SOPs and/or Policies;
- Communicate with team lead and/or direct supervisor regarding workload, as required;
- Ensure the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards;
- Data entry and verification;
- Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures;
- Assist in other analytical sections of the lab as required;
- Organize workload to meet Turn around Times (TAT's) and hold times. Must be able to prioritize and multitask as many tests are run daily;
- Able to query a work list of samples, create work groups, data entry and transfer, report generation and LIMS status updates;
- Adhere to strict QA/QC requirements;
- Must be well organised, and able to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment;
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Work in accordance with the established health and safety policies and procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Other duties as assigned.

- 1 or more year(s) of extensive lab experience;
- Completion of technical diploma or B.Sc. degree in chemistry or related field.
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs and carry for short distances;
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
- Ability to stand or sit for a full shift;
- You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;
- Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and weekend shift work including weekends.

About the role
Location: ALS Environmental, Burlington
Reports to: Supervisor Inorganics/Instrumentation
Classification: AN1
Hourly Rate: $22.24
About the Position:
This position is responsible for the processing of samples from a variety of matrices in support of the inorganics analyses, and for gravimetric determinations. On a daily basis, this person is responsible primarily for performing sample digestions, but is also responsible for aiding instrument-operating analysts as needed.
