Our teams focus on building, testing, and repairing products, building, and integrating larger scale solutions, and providing both on-site and remote technical support to our customers.

We are looking for a Field Services Technician to join our Field Services group in our pursuit to provide our customers with the highest quality products and world-class support.

What You'll Work On

  • Field maintenance activities, which includes assisting with:
  • Field sensor and datalogger installation/replacements
  • Providing general, basic station maintenance or repairs, including equipment cleaning, visual inspections, tidying/repairing/replace cables, adjusting/securing mounting hardware, etc.
  • Completing basic infield troubleshooting.
  • Updating internal facing work orders, and/or inventory data
  • Coordinating with internal including field services project coordinator, supervisor and other support staff for project preparation and execution
  • Organization of required equipment, tools, PPE, etc. for project mobilization, execution and demobilization.
  • Review, understanding and completing in field safety documentation.
  • Review and/or assisting with completing in field installation or maintenance documentation.
  • Assisting with completing equipment and PPE inspections.
  • Potential need to drive an outfitted half ton work truck in rare circumstances.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of your first year completed in an electronics engineering or instrumentation technology program at a recognized postsecondary institution
  • Mechanical skills, a basic knowledge of electronics, and a basic level of technical troubleshooting ability.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An ability to productively manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possession of Class 5 drivers' license, three years of driving experience, and a clean 3year abstract.
  • Someone who places importance on working hard, working safe, having fun, and building great relationships with your peers.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Registered fulltime or parttime in a publicly funded Canadian postsecondary institution in any program
    (International students with a work permit are not eligible):
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has ben conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Eligible work placements can include cooperative education, internships, field placements, and applied research projects

Work Environment

  • This is combined work environment with office, light manufacturing and outdoor field work components. Work demands will be the determining factor in where work occurs. Frequent/extensive travel and outdoor work in inclement weather is expected for the role.
    Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 lbs. of equipment over short distances as needed during fulfilling job responsibilities. Must have the ability to sit (mainly in a vehicle) for long periods of travel. Willingness and ability to use large power tools, such as a jack hammer, walk behind saw, etc. which may cause vibrations and/or loud noises.
