Description
Our client, a prominent global civil engineering and mining firm committed to innovation and sustainability, is currently in search of a Project Engineer.
The Project Engineer will report to the Project Manager and play a crucial role in supporting the technical and operational management of various projects within the Central Group's portfolio. This position involves collaborating with a diverse team of colleagues across technical services, operating departments, and external contractors throughout all project phases, from execution to handover and operations.
To excel in this role, we are seeking an individual with exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, capable of fostering positive relationships across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess strong critical thinking and presentation abilities, and thrive in collaborative environments with various stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development are essential.
This position presents a unique opportunity for an Engineer to make a significant impact on critical business operations. The successful candidate will have the chance to demonstrate their expertise in coordinating all aspects of the project lifecycle, including collaboration with Health & Safety, planning, quality control, cost and schedule management, and influencing project-site decisions through thorough data analysis and sound practices.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate leadership in safety, adhering to and promoting safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
Lead and coordinate strategic planning and front-end processes, including defining project objectives, evaluating opportunities, optimizing project concepts, managing engineering activities, mitigating risks, and integrating operational requirements into projects.
Support project execution by identifying and managing risks, updating key project documentation, and communicating timelines, achievements, deadlines, and deliverables to stakeholders.
Manage project delivery from planning to closeout, ensuring safety, effective communication, procurement, quality control, and adherence to project management processes.
Coordinate with internal and external engineers to produce required engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with project delivery standards.
Ensure adherence to project management processes and facilitate efficient decision-making processes by gathering information, evaluating risks, and providing recommendations aligned with project objectives.
Monitor project status, report progress to customers and collaborators, and implement cost and productivity improvement initiatives based on best practices and insights from previous projects.
Collaborate with external vendors to ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Diploma in Mining, Mechanical, or Processing, or a related field.
Registered, or eligible for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); support for EGBC registration will be provided for eligible employees.
Demonstrated experience in project engineering within a heavy industrial environment, preferably mining, including expertise in all aspects of project delivery and resource management.
Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations, with the ability to read and understand technical documentation.
Familiarity with project management standards and their application at various stages of project development.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital literacy.
Excellent project management skills, including experience with brownfield projects, is advantageous.
