    Afternoon Shift Supervisor


    Working with our client, a long-time entity in the housing market in the downtown Toronto area, we are hiring an Afternoon Shift Supervisor to work from Monday to Friday from 3pm – 11pm, providing support for the 24-hour housing program, located within the organization and adhere to the mission statement and policies and procedures of their organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise a unionized workforce within the context of the Collective Agreement.
    • Provide case management expertise and support to the Community Housing Workers on site
    • Prioritize and assign shift responsibilities and duties to team members
    • Ensure the safety of the tenants and the building through access control, overseeing guests, and regular monitoring of life safety systems
    • Intervene in crises, deescalate conflicts and respond to tenant emergencies, including overdoses and the administration of Naloxone or oxygen
    • Ensure adherence to Harm reduction policies
    • Liaise with Property Management and file work orders when necessary for repairs
    • Ensure effective communications with other departments within Homes First Society as well as with external agencies
    • Manage employee performance and perform necessary administrative duties such as timekeeping, performance reviews, etc.
    • Ensure that all documentation is completed to agency standards
    • Assist when necessary in preparing applications to the Landlord and Tenant Board
    • Be able to work occasional weekends and/or evenings, when required
    • Be able to fulfill any element of the Community Housing Worker job description on an as needed basis
    • Be willing and able to carry 24hour emergency pager on rotation
    • Other responsibilities, as required

    Qualifications:

    • Postsecondary education in related field or equivalent in education and experience
    • At least 5 years' experience working with people who are homeless, underhoused and dealing with addictions and mental illness
    • Demonstrated experience performing case management functions and ability to effectively prioritize work in a fastpaced environment
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
    • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
    • Supervisory experience in a unionized setting an asset
    • Knowledge of relevant laws, standards and guidelines; including the Residential Tenancies Act
    • Knowledge of resources and services available in the community
    • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and organization skills
    • Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention an asset
    • The successful candidate will be required to work where smoking is present.
    • Certificate of Completion of Homelessness Learning Hub's Harm Reduction for the Homelessness Sector considered an asset
