    What you'll do
  • Global and Community Studies programs concentrate on the physical, social, and economic wellbeing of our local and global communities. Faculty instructors, staff, and students explore learning in partnership with each other and our communities. Good governance, healthy communities, diversified economies, international development, and opportunities to respectfully explore different cultures and environments are just some of the ways we positively affect the world around us.
  • To teach PADM courses on a rotastional basis to public administration students, most of whom are professionals working for BC local governments. Courses are to be taught using the existing Capilano University Senate approved course outline.

Faculty instructors manage all aspects of course planning, delivery and grading, providing students with a course that is interactive, hands-on and focused on challenges, effective practices and innovations is local government.

Courses may be held either in person, on-line, or a combination of in-person and on-line, with supplemental student and instructor interaction using the on-line learning management system (eLearn).

Instructors will engage service activities and appropriate scholarly work in the school, Faculty, and broader university spaces.
What you'll bring

Required

  • Master's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum eight years' experience working in a local government in BC including at a senior level
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local government corporate administration procedures
  • Experience working with local government elected officials, senior staff and the public

Preferred

  • Doctoral Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field
  • Online teaching experience using webbased learning management system
