    Students will be required to cover all travel expenses to and from the location of work.

    Duties

    Clean and maintaining visitor/public buildings/facilities. Clean and maintain diversified accommodations. Conduct general cleaning around buildings, grounds, public-use areas such as visitor centers and walkways. Assist in minor operational maintenance tasks replace light bulbs, tighten screws on door handles and hinges). Lock and unlock buildings. Observe appearance and condition of premises and equipment; report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring servicing. Maintain/restock inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies. Contribute to visitor experience by responding to general inquiries and direct visitors to sources of information and service areas.
    Also may be requested to complete other related duties.

    Training will be provided as required.

    Located in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these picturesque grounds offer a meaningful memorial, interpretive centre and manicured green space and Victorian Gardensa place to celebrate regional heritage and to bring to life the triumphs and trials of the past.

    Tour a landscape of weeping willows, flower bushes and orchard trees to view a statue of Evangeline, Longfellows famous heroine. Marvel at the vibrant stained glass of a Memorial Church. Appreciate a reconstructed dyke and aboiteau and understand how the Acadians reclaimed the salt marshes. See history illuminated through unearthed artefacts.     Intent of the process

    The intent of this process is to hire students for the summer at the Grand-Pré National Historic Site (Nova Scotia).

    EDUCATION:

    Please confirm that you meet these eligibility factors:
    - registered as a full time or part-time secondary or post secondary student in an accredited academic program; or
    - participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution.

    EXPERIENCE:

    - Experience working in a team environment;
    - Experience working with the public;
    - Experience in providing cleaning services.

    KNOWLEDGE:

    - Parks Canada, its objectives and mandate;
    - Knowledge of how to read and follow instructions for the use of cleaning products.

    ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

    - Client Focus-Providing service excellence to client;

    ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    - Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/ territorial holidays;
    - Willingness to work in variable weather conditions;
    - Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform/period costume and prescribed protective equipment;
    - Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification;
    - Possession of a valid Driver's license.

    Conditions of employment

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    - Reliability Status security clearance;
    - Parks Canada prohibits smoking or vaping in the workplace.
