- Lead tax workstreams supporting the deal teams on real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and developments, and implementing tax efficient holding structures;
- Advise the Real Estate Financing & Capital Markets team on all types of debt financings;
- Providing tax support to the Legal team on various legal agreements: lease agreements, service agreements, property management agreements, various other types of agreements;
- Provide ongoing support for all business units, including the communication of recent/proposed tax changes and tax risks;
- Assist with the review of tax returns (corporate, trust, partnership);
- Assist with the management of tax audits, working with all business functions to support tax positions;
- Keep up to date on changes in tax laws and views, including communicating to relevant parties
- Evaluate corporate structure to identify opportunities for internal reorganizations to optimize existing tax structures;
- Assist with the development and implementation of tax strategies and internal tax education materials, identifying and mitigating tax risks, liaising with and managing external advisors;
- Advise on various diverse and challenging ad hoc special projects.
- Have at least 5 years of experience in tax in a large public accounting firm or in a large complex corporate group with progressive tax exposure, M&A background and/or Real Estate industry and/or pension tax experience is an asset
- Strong Canadian Income Tax compliance background
- Have a CPA or equivalent
- Completed or are currently enrolled in the CPA In-depth Tax Course
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects at any given time
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and able to demonstrate sound judgment
- Strong business acumen and ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, in particular on complex tax matters

We are looking for a business and solutions oriented candidate with strong tax, analytical, interpersonal, and communicational skills to join our highly engaged, high-achieving, and experienced team located in the financial core of downtown Toronto.Reporting to and working closely with the Director, Taxation, in this internal tax advisory focused role, you'll have a variety of responsibilities including being part of the tax team that advises on domestic real estate acquisitions/dispositions/developments/financings, develops efficient corporate structures, and tax compliance.
